Compiz Fusion is collection of plugins for Compiz, an OpenGL based window manager for the X Window System (read: available for all Linux distributions, natively build in Ubuntu) that uses 3D graphics hardware to create fast compositing desktop effects for window management.
Most of you have heard about that great piece of free software, and I really don’t want to rewrite what was already written. Instead, I’m gonna share with you a well-performed video demonstration of all Compiz Fusion plugins which was recently recorded by one of my compatriots. Definitely worth watching (RSS readers - below is a little preview).

If only I could get a Windows version to use at work. The IT department would probably castrate me for security issues, but god damn would it look nice!

Dude, what a pain. Keep your family jewels in a fine condition, they are irreplaceable and essential above all. I dunno, but the department may be satisfied with one of your kidneys instead. You really should try!

Have you seen this in action yet Bart?
I don’t have a decent graphics card so I have not used it yet, but someone at work has it installed… its fantastic. I cant wait till I upgrade my Laptop so I can start running it, it really is good… a lot of fun and also easier to work with multiple desktops…
If you haven’t tried it yet, rest assured… YOU’LL LOVE IT!!

@Jez: How have you missed with video which is added to that post Jeremy? However, due an outdated graphics card mounted in my PC Compiz does not perform very well on it, too.
But don’t worry Jeremy! I just ordered GeForce 9 - that means next week I’ll be able to check out not only Compiz, but also Crysis, Quake Wars, UT3, and all other awesome games I haven’t played a bit yet
