How to use Tag Cloud (unless you’re Jonathan Dingman)

own3d.jpg

It’s quite surprising how many people don’t know how to use tag clouds - they are not for search engines, they are for your visitors to see which topics do you focus on. Recently I tried to share a piece of advice with Jonathan, I told him that having one hundred of links within sidebar is not a good idea. In response to my little comment Jonathan pointed that he works as a PROFESSIONAL SEO and he doesn’t need any advices from n00bs like me. Yes my friends, it looks like there are some professional SEOs that don’t even know how the search engines work (to say nothing of correct use of nofollow parameter), but who caress - in fact there was no need to put the flame on his name and include that hopples little suck within my post about Tag Clouds BUT…

Today I visit his website and what can I see? Jonathan has removed ALL of comments added below his poor entry! This is really nice, isn’t it? Unfortunately, Ginside blog has no caching, so I don’t have any proofing…

Except email notifications ;)

Very considerate of your to send free traffic to my site though.

I removed your comments and your links because I don’t feel comfortable linking to your site due to the content. Has nothing to do with you personally, I just don’t feel comfortable. Since it’s my site, I can choose to do whatever I want.

As far as SEO goes, sure, you’re more than welcome to offer suggestions, but you’re not the end-all of SEO and it’s purely your opinion, that’s all.

How stupid. Deleting comments since you don’t feel ‘comfortable’ is just ridiculous.

Jonathan: Rather you should say “I have nothing between the ears, sorry“. Maybe your foolish behavior is the reason why you blog that long (June 2006?!) and still don’t receive any comments to your worthless posts? If you really think that I need to be afraid of showing your sucky site to my readers… Well, you might be even more stupid than I suspected before. Written in short - you suck, buddy. Go away

    Marc: Indeed!

mmmmm. I got involved in something like this recently with someone approving then deleting comments - which I obviously can’t prove as it wasn’t cached yet. At least this guy admitted he did it, but thats about as much as I’m willing to say.

PS - Huge link lists in the sidebar is a BAD SEO IDEA.

Damn, this is impossible to save a screenshot of every comment you leave. Give a wide berth to this kind of people, there’s no other way…

Neil, I’m afraid you are not “the end-all of SEO“, too. This guy is a product manager of Text Link Ads, do not make sport of him! Rotfl

    (unless you don’t use TLA ;) )

  6. Acopic Web Design says:

That OK then. I used to use texlinkads but no more….

  7. Florchakh says:

Alright then. Pricing in TLA totally sucks, the guy is a miserable man, and we are the SEO gurus. This sounds much better, doesn’t it? ;)

Yeah. That and the fact everytime I bought a link my listings dropped (on about 6 different sites on 6 different occassions). I think they’ve been rumbled.
