John has written a post about building a better Technorati, I’ve taken it as a great opportunity to write another post to my MyBlogLog Ups and Downs series. Even though Technorati has fallen into stagnation long time ago, according to Alexa stats it’s still pretty hot place in the web (#197 position). I guess we both don’t understand why David L. Sifry’s staff is not doing as well as they are able to do, but it’s not a major reason why do I write a post, in fact.
I just want to put the question - if Technorati had not fall asleep and provide similar functionally MyBlogLog would have failed with its business, don’t you think so? I am afraid that if they don’t get the ball rolling, Yahoo’s purchase (#410 in Alexa ranking) might simply takeover their niche, sooner or later. Just take a closer look at recent MyBlogLog upgrades in a period of time and compare it with current doings of Technorati.
Quote from MyBlogLog official blog:
It’s been a busy six months and MyBlogLog is integrating nicely into Yahoo. We’re on better servers, we’ve grown the team and there are some exciting new features in the works. Dare I say that the future is so bright that we gotta wear shades? So it seems like the right time to pull up stakes.
