Well, I have pimped my Wordpress theme a little bit more. Now it has one new rounded AdSense block below each post, nice looking list of related entires, and manually chosen index of top stories. Todos: I have to do something with with that ugly code of sidebar, my favorite AJAX RSS chicklet chooser is in need of changes, also it will be cool to pass validation some day - so I’m gonna keep working on it. Now there is a lack of time to take up the fight against errors in damned Microsoft Internet Explorer, but surely I won’t give up and get all the things done
By the way - if I want to share my own theme modification with other users of Wordpress, I have to fix all standard Hemingway’s features that I have adapted to my personal blog, including Hemingway Options page within the Wordpress dashboard. Fine, I am afraid I won’t ever make it public ![]()

Its a nice template… I liked your post on some of the new themes being released, there were some nice ones, though you would have to spend time modding images to use some of them…. I dont think making images integral to the design is a good plan… IMO
IE is a real pain, IE7 is not a lot better… a developer contacted me from MSDN about it, which I was impressed about… but when I gave him examples of compliant code failing badly he said that if they went compliant then all the old sites built for IE6 would fall apart….
So, MS are locked into a bit of a mess due to all the non compliant sites they got built… I suppose many were built with front page too….
So now, even if they want to go for compliance they cannot….

Do you mean screenshots with rounded corners in recent post about themes? If yes, I guess there should be an error in your feed reader, you know I was streaking. Now its CSS has been fixed, thanks a bunch
Solution is really simple - our web development business needs next Apple personal computer to be commenced as well as iPhone in the Uninted States, then Safari became the most popular browser. Also, there might be some dramatical increases in number of Ubuntu installations, so more people should use Firefox. It looks simple, doesn’t it?
Otherwise we can spend next few years on spreading modern standards, and waste time on working our fingers to the bone thanks to damn Internet Errorer from Redmond…

No I was on about some of the themes you linked to, not your own site….
I have never used a Mac, I use Ubuntu a lot, but not for browsing the internet…. I dont know why but FF seems to run more slowly on my Ubuntu machines… wierd huh?
Also I don’t like Gimp… but for LAMP programming its great….
I take it you use Ubuntu then?

Well, error was fixed anyway
It not easy to get a nice theme for free, usually you need a lot of work to have it adjusted. Also, designers frequently don’t know how to SEO, except their selling of “sponsored text links” within the footer
Aye, I am full-time Ubuntu user. Since recent system upgrade Firefox works a little bit faster. I was browsing with Opera, but when damn Dependency Hell appeared, I have been forced to get back to the fox. It works pretty, but situation is getting worse when I open more than 15 tabs.

I don’t think SEO is too much of an issue with WP templates… and code is easily tweaked if you want to make changes…
I am not that good with CSS, I would like to create a theme, but I know it would take me a lot of time… there is no real benefit for me in doing that….
Ubuntu is cool, its the only desktop version I have ever used seriously… I found Debian too much of a pain getting the drivers set up etc….
I only really use FF… occasionally epiphany… I hate konqueror…. on Debian FF is “Ice Weasel”… they forked it as the FF logo was not “Free”…. crazy IMO…
But yeah I don’t know why but browsing on Ubuntu just isn’t quite as smooth as Windows… even on the same pc (laptop is dual boot)… maybe its just me…..
Fave program on Ubuntu has to be Screem… I love that app…
Played with Kubuntu and Xubuntu for a while too… problem with Xubuntu was that I found I could not live without my toys…. by the time I re-installed them all it was no faster than Ubuntu

If all Open Source communities didn’t have similar ideas (problem of FF logo, I mean), they would be far away from the place where they exist right now, broken out by ideology, or monkey business. We live in the world of almighty dollar, all the better I’m impressed by growth of Ubuntu. Unbelievable stats of downloads, or laptops with pre-installed Linux OS in official store of Dell, for e.g. I would write “now or never!”, but thanks to popularity of Ubuntu it’s already on the best way to success, I think.
Maybe it’s time to play with hidden configuration of FF, Jeremy? I haven’t ever been in need of digging through Firefox config files, but surely you can have it working much better. You know, I’m forced to use Gnome, it has blogger-friendly system requirements, and works pretty fine on my not-up-to-date Desktop PC
I must check app that you’ve mentioned, at the moment I’m working in standard gedit. I need to start using some smarter editor

I think you will like Screem, its lightweight, has nice syntax highlighting and a lot of useful features…. but not too many if you know what I mean….
You will find it with synaptic easily enough

Forgot to say I use Gnome also… otherwise I would be using Kubuntu…. I cannot remember why I settled on Ubuntu… I am sure there was a reason….
Mostly I use command line on servers…. I dont use the desktop as much… I would say I still use windows 60% of the time on a desktop / laptop.
