Booyah! As we expected, Yahoo is going to do something with MyBlogLog service. Great news, because its functionality is still pretty hot, but let’s say it - it’s needy, too. I don’t understand why MyBlogLog staff were so passive when the service was being on a wave of popularity. With that nice number of users everything looks much easier, am I wrong? Anyway, on David Dalka’s blog I read that Yahoo is going to fix this situation, soon.

Changes are coming. The biggest one is rebranding, I’m sure it won’t damage the business. New brand will be able to accomplish more (hmm… YahooBlogLog doesn’t sound great, does it?). There will appear new design (current one sucks as hell, I think) and new opening of famous MyBlogLog widget. Naturally functionality will be revamped, too. First planned addition is an ability to turn off your presence for some types of sites. Also they want to remove the offensive photos in order to make it encouraging to more conservative blogs. It might be pretty interesting to find out how they want to hit that goal successfully. You know, avatars with animated boobs and similar ones don’t sit well with serious bloggers.

Many people think that MyBlogLog was a great startup, but it’s far away from the truth, in fact. Just take a look at the history of MyBlogLog.com on WayBack Machine. From 2004 to 2006 this service was offering only poor blog stats, until new great functionality appeared (pop Recent Readers widget, I mean). Arrival of Recent Readers widget was a REAL start of MyBlogLog success. After that, guys from MyBlogLog had started to blow out. Anyway, fame attracts great business offers, so finally MyBlogLog was acquired by Yahoo.

Like many other users, I decided to remove MyBlogLog widget from my site. And I’m afraid that revampings wont help that widget in coming back to our sidebars. But service is still a great source of worth traffic, so time will show… However, I love to watch expansions, so be sure I’ll post a review when they finish their job.
